NAME-DEOGARH MAHAL
300 years old this stone and lime edifice
was built in stages leaving behind their indelible mark standing at a height 2100 feet above sea level
This old mahal has been restored by the present family
It holds its integrity of original style and towers over the town below. Aravallis mountains and it`s rugged rocks strewn country side dotted by a number of lakes are all seen around it when the night falls the moonlit terraces under a canopy of stars lend to the mahal an ethereal elegance.
Deogarh mahal has a selection of luxurious suites and fine double rooms each painstakingly restore to blend with the period of each ruler and architectural styles such as Sheesh mahal of Ranjit Singhji (1847-1867)
Gokul Ajara of Gokuldas (1786-1821) etc.
Round the mahal is a beautiful countryside which can be explored on a horseback bicycle or by a rural ramble ride ,a drive in one of the vintage vehicle . The surrounding lakes play a host to a large variety of migaratory birds . A trian ride on a local meter guage train down a hill with bridges and tunnels is a memorable experience . Or a trek through the jungle to one of the highest peak with the shrine of the goddess .
Deogarh being well located can also be the base for the migthy KUMBALGARH FORT. This fort is surrounded by a thick forest and a thick 36 kms wall which is compared to theGreat Wall of China .

Ghanerao The Royal Castle

Uniqueness : Standing sentinel over the village the castle is truly a magnificent edifice of red stone balconies and marble citadels with various terraces ,balconies and courtyards.Ghanerao castle is very much lived in home where family still resides and has recreated the style of thakurs in the past glory by keeping the restorations as close to its original style.Around the place is a trek to the tribal dwellings or a trip to the famous Jain temples with 1444 engraved pillars ,of which no two are alike.These temples are dedicated to Adinathji. An excursion in the forest reserve to see the crocodile dam are some of the interesting and unique places to be seen around.A pardise for painters and writers is the Bagh-Ka-Bagh a jungle lodge – eight bedroom in the heart of the Aravali range . It has the basic comforts and is environment friendly with no electricity to get you into the feel and sprit of jungle.

Rawala Jojawar

Badnor The town of the 3 rd century BC
Description : About 80 kms southwest of Ajmer is Badnorbest known for its imposing fort which is more than 500years old.Badnor is a small fortified town surrounded by 10 lakes that fill duringthe monsoon.This is a quaint sleepy town off the beaten track, seems to belong to a by gone era.It is a good place to if you visit a small rural community which is virtually untouched by modernization.
Uniqueness : In a recent excavation, a more than 2000years old inscription has been found near the village,proving the strategic location of the region on an ancient trade route. The engraved letters on the rock are of Ashok- Brahmi script, prevalent around the 3 rd century B.C.Badnor has also been established as a sub- school of the Mewar school of miniature paintings and now research is going on to prove that is was a separate school with a distinctive style of its own.Awalk down memory lane, a tryst with esoteric past that still impregnates the land ,and a close encounter with history that meanders through generations and is solely responsible for the metamorphosis of the ephemeral into the eternal : is what Badnore has to offer.Places to stay is the Badnor House and Jal Mahal Badnor.

Karauli - History`s Side Show
Description : Karauli is a remote ,ancient town founded in 1348 is famous for the residents of LORD KRISHNA `S descendents.The old city palace was built in 1635 and is treasure trove of architecture ,stone carving, gorgeous jalli work and classic paintings. The ruling familyof Karauli are the descendents of Lord Krishna ,the city is the home of Shri Madan Mohanji or the diety Lord Krishna worshipped by the millions. Karauli is the centre for the manufacture of tradition handicrafts and markets. It also offers many artifacts to the tourists including rugs , tie and dye clothing and colourful bangles.
Uniqueness : The Karauli fort which was constructed over a different period is about 600 years old the fort was residence for the family until 1950 .and is now occupied by monkeys and geese. The geese were used in early days as a warning system against any intruders they still seem to be doing their duty. Another interesting is the primitive water cooling system where water was poured down a drain by the servants into the tank on the 3 rd floor this went down the steel pipes two floors and came out as 30 odd spouts on the walls which had khas spread on them and air was provided by hand driven fans fixed on the roof. This served as an excellent cooling system.
Karauli being a place of lord Krishna is also famous for it`s Holi (the Indian festival of colours) keeping the holi colours in mind the town houses are a combination of blue and pink .
Karauli fairs –Cattles fairs are one of the main attractions where sales of camels, horses and buffaloes take place in the month of Feb and March apart from these, two religious fairs are held in the month of March and April and September and October .
